While her colleagues in ‘Office #thebrightesthorrorfilm” deal with the ghosts that haunt the premises, Drisha More’s character is handling demons of another kind. Rape threat from a bully boss is something that women face frequently in offices. Drisha’s Shujoya however, is not the one to take things lying down. In fact she wants to give it back to the assaulter – with one tight slap.
“If you accept the initial advances lying down, it emboldens the potential rapists. You may try to get out of the situation for the time being, but the ghost will come back to haunt you. Being scared of any kind of ghosts is not worth it. Fear of ghosts is about powerlessness, so is the fear of rape for women. Just like people feel they can’t do anything if they come face – to – face with a ghost, most women too feel they can’t do anything when they face a rape threat or attempt. But that’s not really true”, asserts the feisty actor.
Drisha moved to Mumbai from a small village in the interiors of Maharashtra to pursue modeling and acting. In Office #thebrightesthorrorfilm her biggest challenge was to play a Bengali girl, again from a rural background. “The Bengali and Marathi accents are very different from each other. Like me Shujoya too comes from a small village in West Bengal and makes a career in Mumbai. She has learnt to dress like a city girl but at heart she is a village girl from Bengal. She is constantly irked by people, including her boyfriend, pronouncing her name the North Indian way (Sujaya) rather than the Bangla way (Shujoya). When in distress, she immediately switches to Bangla forgetting Hindi and the smattering of big English words she has picked up, and keeps throwing around to keep up with the city slickers” informs Drisha.
Though hers is the only character that does not come across any ghosts in ‘Office #thebrightesthorrorfilm’, the existence and survival at workplace is not easy for her for a different reason – like most women.
