Fukrey Returns, the sequel to 2013 hit Fukrey has opened to a whopping collections of Rs 8 cr. This is above all the films that did not have a major star in them and has crossed all the films of middle and parallel stars like Irrfan, Nawazuddin Siddqi, Rajkumar Rao etc. None of the actors of Fukrey have had any huge success in the 4 years since the first film and therefore haven’t gone up in star value. Therefore the success of the sequel can only be attributed to the content and strong characters from the first part being loved and remembered.
In all probability, the film will have a jump on Saturday as all multiplex driven films do. Sunday will be big too and Monday is not likely to have a fall. It will emerge as the biggest non-star hit of the year and may cross some star films like Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil. Will it be able to beat a film like Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2 would depend on how small the Monday drop is and how steady the weekdays are, followed by second weekend and week. The biggest problem in the way of the film touching 100 cr would be the fact that Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai is releasing on 22nd December and hence there will be hardly any screens or scope to add to collections after 2 weeks.
